Where cleanup ends and repair begins
After the soot is cleaned and the burned debris is removed, what remains is a room with missing pieces. Studs may be charred, drywall and insulation removed, cabinets and flooring gone. Fire damage repair is the construction phase that puts those pieces back, safely and to a finish that fits the rest of the home.
We handle fire repairs across Grissom Afb, IN both as part of our own restoration projects and for property owners whose cleanup was done by others. Either way, we start by confirming that remaining materials are clean, dry and sound before building on them.
Structural and hidden work
Charred framing is evaluated for strength. Surface charring on otherwise sound studs may be cleaned and sealed, while members that lost significant material are replaced or reinforced. Where fire reached joists, rafters or load-bearing walls, structural assessments and permits may be required, and we coordinate those steps.
Electrical wiring, plumbing and HVAC components exposed to heat are inspected and repaired by licensed trades. Insulation is replaced to current standards. Any remaining odor from framing is sealed with appropriate primers before walls are closed, which prevents smoke smell from returning once the room is finished.
Finishes that match
With the structure ready, drywall is hung, taped and textured to match adjacent walls. Trim, doors, cabinets and flooring are installed to match the original style where possible, or upgraded if you prefer. Paint is applied so the repaired area blends with rooms that were cleaned rather than rebuilt.
Every repair follows a written scope you approve, and changes are discussed before they happen. The finished result should feel like your home again, not a patched-together space.
